Senior Accountant Financial Reporting & Controls (CPA) Our client in the insurance sector offers an opportunity to contribute to key accounting, reporting, and control activities while supporting finance initiatives and process improvements. This role provides exposure to various areas of finance, including accounting, reporting, and analytics, while enabling collaboration with multiple teams across the organization in a dynamic and evolving environment. What is in it for you: • Salaried: $45-50 per hour. • Incorporated Business Rate: $55-60 per hour. • 12-month contract. • Day schedule, 37.50 hours per week. • Hybrid role with 3 on-site days per week. Responsibilities: • Coordinate and complete various aspects of monthly and quarterly finance functions, including accounting close activities, chart of value requests, reconciliations, reporting, and analytics. • Support projects and initiatives through the preparation and posting of journal entries in SAP, ensuring balances are accurate and aligned with accounting and reporting requirements. • Assist in the preparation of legal entity financial statements, perform analytical reviews, and investigate variances to ensure accuracy and completeness. • Support compliance and regulatory reporting requirements, including excess minimum capital calculations and participation fees. • Support audits by coordinating deliverables, preparing audit samples, and liaising with internal stakeholders to address auditor requests. • Collaborate with various teams to operationalize new processes, including process documentation. • Identify and implement process efficiencies, including the use of automation. • Establish and maintain robust governance and financial controls. What you will need to succeed: Required qualifications • Bachelor’s degree with a finance background. • 5-7 years of experience in finance or reporting-related functions. • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to summarize detailed information for relevant stakeholders. • Strong experience using financial reporting systems and tools. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Preferred qualifications • Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, or CGA). • Experience with SAP. • Experience with Power BI and/or Tableau. • Experience working within a financial institution, particularly in the asset management sector.
