Job summary

Job Summary The Team Lead, Payroll will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Payroll Department including the processing of multiple payrolls. They will monitor compliance with approved policies and procedures in relation to Payroll legislative and statutory compliance as well as collective agreement requirements. Duties & Responsibilities Manage and respond to team member payroll inbox inquiries in a prompt and professional manner, providing guidance on payroll policies and procedures Maintain current and updated payroll documentation, workflow and work procedures. Implement payroll best practices and enhance efficiency Keep up-to-date regarding legislation of the various courts for garnishees, educate and counsel team members of legislative standards and answer any inquiries related to such. Responsible for the payroll process and the maintenance of payroll information, such as new hires, terminations, leave of absence, benefit deductions, garnishments etc., gross to net calculation, audit and balancing Manage end-to-end Canadian and U.S. payroll cycles, including off-cycle Review payroll reports and audit outputs to ensure accuracy and completeness Support payroll-related reporting and provide data insights to internal stakeholders as needed Assist with year-end activities, audits, and regulatory reporting Train and lead Payroll teams on day-to-day tasks; ensure cross-training Support cost savings initiatives and operating efficiencies within the payroll department Liaise with service providers, research and resolve problems Calculate, enter and monitor programs such as, RRSP/DPSP, Taxable Benefits, EPSP, etc. in collaboration with other members of the People and Culture team. Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy Behavioural Competencies Concern for Safety: Identifying hazardous or potentially hazardous situations and taking appropriate action to maintain a safe environment for self and others. Teamwork: Working collaboratively with others to achieve organizational goals. Passenger/Customer Service: Providing service excellence to internal and/or external customers (passengers). Qualifications Post-secondary diploma or equivalent work experience 5-7 years of work experience in payroll processing Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) designation or in progress Avanti Software experience an asset Detail oriented and a proven self-starter Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task in a high volume environment Able to work autonomously while possessing strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to maintain a high degree of discretion, diplomacy and confidentiality Strong computer skills, experience using Google and/or Microsoft Office products Location Toronto Downtown Office (250 Yonge Street) #LI-Hybrid Company Description Since 2006, Porter Airlines has been elevating the experience of economy air travel for every passenger, providing genuine hospitality with style, care and charm.
