Payroll & Benefits Administrator (1-Year Contract) About the Opportunity Pivotal is hiring an experienced Payroll & Benefits Administrator to support our client in a well-established, multi-site organization with a safety-focused, hourly workforce. This is a one-year contract opportunity for someone who is ready to make an immediate impact and become a valued member of the team. While this is a contract position, future opportunities may become available. The successful candidate will support operational, skilled trades, and administrative employees. Experience with unionized environments, shift schedules, and time-sensitive payroll is highly preferred. The Role The Payroll & Benefits Administrator is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll, employee records, benefits administration, reporting, and payroll-related inquiries. The ideal candidate has experience processing payroll for unionized hourly employees, including 12-hour shifts, overtime, shift premiums, and other schedule-based pay rules. Key Responsibilities Process accurate bi-weekly payroll using ADP Workforce Now. Maintain employee payroll records and verify timesheets, pay rates, and payroll changes. Calculate overtime, vacation pay, shift premiums, bonuses, deductions, and payroll adjustments. Administer payroll for rotating and non-standard work schedules. Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, collective agreements, and company policies. Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies. Respond to employee payroll and benefits inquiries. Partner with HR and Finance on payroll and benefits administration. Qualifications Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business, Human Resources, or equivalent experience. 3–5 years of payroll and benefits administration experience. Experience processing payroll in a unionized hourly environment is strongly preferred. Experience with 12-hour shifts, rotating schedules, overtime, and shift premiums is an asset. Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office. PCP designation is considered an asset. Work Arrangement Full-time, onsite position based in Scarborough, Ontario. Travel between two nearby work locations is required. Compensation $65,000–$75,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
