Job summary
Pivot Bookkeeping is a growing, subscription-based cloud accounting firm helping business owners stay on top of their finances and taxes. We are looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team and support a portfolio of small-business clients. You will report to our Accounting & Client Relations Manager and work alongside another bookkeeper. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in clean, accurate books and enjoys getting things right the first time. You do not need to be a manager or a tax expert; you need to be dependable, organized, and comfortable owning your day-to-day work with light supervision. What you will do ● Handle day-to-day bookkeeping for a group of clients: categorize transactions, reconcile bank and credit card accounts, and keep the books current in QBO. ● Process accounts payable and receivable and manage receipts and documents through Dext. ● Run payroll through Wagepoint and help prepare GST/HST and payroll remittances. ● Manage your work and deadlines in Karbon and keep the manager informed on status. ● Prepare files and working papers so the manager can review and finalize, and flag anything unusual early. ● Communicate with clients on routine day-to-day items (chasing documents, simple questions). What we are looking for ● 2+ years of bookkeeping experience, ideally for multiple small-business clients or in a firm setting. ● Hands-on experience with QBO; experience with Dext, Wagepoint, or Karbon is a strong plus (we will train on our stack). ● Solid understanding of full-cycle bookkeeping: reconciliations, AP/AR, payroll basics, and GST/HST. ● Careful and accurate, well organized, and able to manage your own deadlines with light oversight. ● Clear, professional communicator who asks questions when unsure rather than guessing. ● Some exposure to Canadian personal or corporate tax prep is a bonus but not required for this role. Why Pivot ● A supportive team where the manager reviews your work and helps you grow. ● A modern, fully cloud-based stack and varied small-business clients. ● Room to take on more responsibility as you develop.
