Job summary
Origin Accounting & Advisory is growing, and we're looking for an Accountant to join our team and help us deliver remote accounting services to businesses and non-profits across Canada. We're a young, ambitious accounting firm with a strong focus on delivering high-quality work with efficiency, all while maintaining a healthy work/life balance. We believe in leveraging modern tools to work smarter and collaborate seamlessly. Although this is a remote role, we will only be considering applicants located in BC. Your day-to-day: Manage a portfolio of clients, performing full-cycle bookkeeping including accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit card and bank reconciliations. Own the month-end close process for your clients. Preparing reconciliations, posting journal entries, and getting files to the review-ready stage on time. Communicate directly with clients and their team members to gather source documents, clarify transactions, and keep files moving. Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for client review. Collaborate with senior staff during the review process, responding to notes and applying feedback to improve file quality over time. Support onboarding of new clients, including setting up their file and getting familiar with their chart of accounts and workflows. What you need to succeed: 2+ years of bookkeeping experience, including hands-on work with AP, AR, payroll, and full-cycle accounting. You can manage a busy portfolio of client files without dropping the ball. Organization and attention to detail are non-negotiable. You're comfortable with the month-end close process and can work through it independently, knowing when to ask for help. You communicate clearly and professionally, whether you're following up with a client or flagging an issue internally. You know how to spot a discrepancy, dig into it, and sort it out. You're proficient in QuickBooks Online and you're not thrown off by learning a new system, because every client is a little different. You're solid in Excel, you don’t need to be an expert, but you need to show up with some skills. Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is considered an asset. Why you'll want to work with us: 100% remote but only applicants in BC will be considered. Salary $55,000 - $65,000 depending on experience. Medical and dental benefits. A team that values doing good work and finishing the day at a reasonable time. If this sounds like the right fit, we'd love to hear from you.
