Job summary

Seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee and lead payroll operations across Canada. Reporting to the Director of Financial Operations, this role will be responsible for managing a rapidly growing payroll function currently supporting approximately 900 employees across multiple provinces. The Payroll Manager will lead a team of three payroll professionals and ensure the accurate, timely, and compliant processing of payroll for both hourly and salaried employees across a multi-entity environment with multiple union agreements in place. This role requires a hands-on leader with strong technical payroll expertise, experience working with UKG PRO WFM systems, and the ability to identify problems, investigate root causes, and implement practical solutions. The organization is growing rapidly and expects future expansion beyond Canada, making U.S. payroll experience a strong asset. Key Responsibilities Payroll Operations Leadership Oversee the end-to-end payroll process across multiple Canadian provinces Manage weekly payroll processing for both hourly and salaried employees Lead and develop a team of three payroll professionals Ensure payroll accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with all federal and provincial regulations Administer payroll in unionized environments and ensure adherence to multiple collective agreements Compliance & Reporting Manage statutory payroll obligations, including WSIB reporting and provincial payroll filings Oversee payroll reconciliations and ensure proper general ledger coding Work closely with Finance to support month-end payroll entries and reconciliations Systems, Process & Continuous Improvement Maintain and optimize payroll systems, specifically UKG PRO WFM systems Improve payroll processes, controls, and documentation to support scalability as the company grows Growth & Cross-Functional Support Partner with HR, Finance, and Operations teams to support payroll-related needs across the organization Support payroll integration for newly acquired entities as the organization continues to expand Requirements 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibility Bachelor’s degree or diploma in accounting, finance, business administration, human resources, or related field PCP or CPM designation (or in progress) preferred Strong Excel skills Hands-on experience with UKG PRO WFM systems is desirable Proven team leadership skills Strong knowledge of WSIB, provincial reporting, and Canadian payroll compliance requirements Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve payroll issues Experience with payroll accounting, general ledger coding, and reconciliations High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information What We Offer: Top benefits.
