Specific accountabilities

The Property Accountant reports to the Manager, Financial Administration and Accounting in Toronto and works closely with Senior Property Accountants in Montreal, Toronto and Calgary.  This position is responsible for all reporting functions of the non-managed property portfolio, with specific responsibilities related to:

  • Responsible for producing the activities related to the monthly processes:

  • Integrate and reconcile monthly results of the non-managed properties;

  • Calculate accruals and adjustments for both revenues and expenses;
  • Liaise with property accountant of our partner for questions on non-managed properties;
  • Prepare variances analysis and reconciliations,

  • Responsible for accounting and analytics of General and Administration expenses:

  • Responsible for accounting of entries in the administration/regional companies;

  • Responsible for integrating and analyzing all budget of non-managed properties;
  • Review and reconcile annual financial statements of the non-managed properties;
  • Support Senior Property Accountant with various queries and requests:

  • Assist in Financial control review of properties;

  • Assist in transactions;
  • Responsible for back fill of Senior Property Accountants on an ad hoc basis.

Key requirements

  • Excellent command of English and French, both spoken and written;
  • Professional designation (CPA) obtained or in registered in the program leading to accreditation;
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel;
  • Ability to work under pressure and respect deadlines;
  • High energy with a positive learning attitude;
  • Team player and strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Flexible work schedule as required;
