In this role, you will be an integral part of the National Benefits Team, delivering excellent support and impeccable customer service to over 27,000 internal team members, over 22,000 retirees and other external customers across Canada. Reporting to the Benefits Administration Manager, you will work alongside the larger P&C Operations team to ensure we meet our commitments.

  • Deliver superior team member experiences by providing benefits expertise and consultancy to all of our stakeholders
  • Bridge the gap between system and people by being the business process expert of the various HR tools we own
  • Bring a mindset of innovation and continuous improvement by challenging the status quo and implementing process improvements that lean out work on the team
  • Ensure the integrity of our overall data through audits, automation, and a relentless focus on safeguarding the quality of our work

Here's how

  • Act as the end-to-end owner and subject matter expert of your assigned portfolio, administering group insurance benefits programs (extended health and dental, primary life and accident, optional insurances, LTD, etc.) for team members who are actively at work, on a leave of absence, or separating from TELUS
  • Facilitate onboarding of new hires and acquisitions onto benefit plans and transition team members to a new benefits plan due to an employment change
  • Ensure accurate administration and reconciliation of benefit and insurance premiums, ensuring any adjustments are processed accurately
  • Monitor shared Benefits mailbox to provide rapid counsel and support team members and leaders for a wide range of benefits and leave-related issues, including escalations and policy interpretation
  • Responsible for leave administration process from team member's leave request submission to the return to work
  • Actively participate in benefits projects such as annual enrollment, M&A integrations, collective agreement implementation, and systems user acceptance testing
  • Ensure all documentation for knowledge sharing is updated for future reference and issue resolution
  • Conduct regular audits of team member and benefits data to ensure issues, anomalies and trends are identified early
  • Proactively identify areas of opportunity for automation and process improvements with the team member experience and business performance in mind

Qualifications

  • 3 - 5 years' experience in benefits administration, including experience with flex benefit plans
  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills with attention to detail - must have experience performing calculations and working with large reports
  • Proven advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications, especially Excel/Sheets
  • Critical thinker with a positive learning attitude
  • Exceptional customer focus with strong professional acumen and communication skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as a team player
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and adapt to changing priorities
  • Knowledge of Canada Labour Code and provincial Employment Standards regulation
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources or Business Administration

Great-to-haves

  • Bilingual in English and French, both written and verbal
  • Experience with Flexit360, SAP, Success Factors
  • Payroll experience and knowledge
  • Experience working in a unionized environment
  • CEBS GBA 1 and GBA 2 or willing to obtain
