Supervisor - Accounts Payable (ACC263)

Role and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Senior Manager – Accounting, the Supervisor – Accounts Payable will be responsible for the following main responsibilities:

  • Manage, mobilize and coordinate the work of an Accounts Payable team, ensure proper task assignments and be responsible for the performance management process;
  • Participate in the issuance of cheques, obtaining the required approvals and signatures, and sending them to the appropriate recipients;
  • Provide month-end accrued expenses
  • Coordinate with general ledgers and accounts payable;
  • Ensure that accounts payable are processed within given deadlines and verify unprocessed invoices when required;
  • Provide support and advice to the team, and fill in when necessary;
  • Generate and analyze operational performance results for accounts payable and follow up as required;
  • Take ownership of complex or problematic issues related to accounts payable;
  • Identify the team's training needs to ensure knowledge transfer;
  • Carry out any other related task.


  • Demonstrated ability to manage a department and coach employees;
  • Strong concentration skills and ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines;
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, and demonstrated ability to manage several tasks accurately and meticulously;
  • Dynamic personality, solid interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability for teamwork;
  • Experience managing a high volume of transactions;
  • Ability to go into detail when required and to summarize effectively;
  • Solid understanding of general accounting and the differences between various expense categories.

Professional Requirements

  • Relevant college diploma in accounting combined with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in a similar position;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel;
  • Solid general computer skills (ex.: Great Plains, Acrobat);
  • Knowledge of general accounting procedures;
  • Experience managing several currencies, an asset;
  • Experience working in a company comprised of multiple entities, an asset;
  • Experience in a publicly traded company, an asset;
  • Fluency in French and English, written and spoken.
