Senior Payroll Coordinator

The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for supporting the accurate and timely processing of hourly and salaried payroll for Canadian and US employees and participating in both payroll and accounting disciplines. The position requires multi-tasking skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize competing tasks. We are looking for an energetic team player that has a proven background of working collaboratively with teams throughout an organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Bi-weekly payroll processing for hourly and salary employees (CDN & US Payroll)

• Ensure accurate processing of day-to-day payroll updates and documentation including new hires, pay rate changes, terminations, and ROEs

• Assist Payroll Manager in the day-to-day supervision of driver representatives

• Assist the Payroll Manager coordinate relations between departments linked to payroll. Related to inquiries from employees, management and government agencies

• Assist the Payroll Manager review procedures in the payroll department and identify areas of improvement

• Monthly reporting of various provinces WSIB

• Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and state regulations (e.g., WCB, BC health tax, etc.)

• Document and maintain operating manuals for all payroll processes

• Prepare bi-weekly payroll, accruals, and other adjustments as necessary

• Prepare month-end payroll reconciliations and working papers

• Assist accounting team with general accounting duties and month-end requirements

• Assist Payroll Manager in preparation of year end files and government reporting on a timely basis 

• Assist the Payroll Manager with other ad-hoc tasks as required

Skills and expertise

- Good communication skills, both verbal and written in both English and French

- Good working knowledge of Ceridian HCM is considered an asset

- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word/Excel)

- Ability to effectively lead a team

- Excellent time management skills and superior ability to multi-task

- Ability to work in a dynamic fast-paced environment and withstand pressure

- Analytical – an investigator who asks questions and follows through

Requirements 

- College degree or equivalent

- PCP, equivalent experience, or in the final steps of program is an asset

- At least 5 years of previous experience in a similar role

- Experience in logistic industry is considered an asset
