Controller

Our client is an established manufacturing company in the Waterloo Region. They are currently seeking an exceptional candidate for the Controller position at their business.

The Controller will work closely with the Board of Directors to maintain a comprehensive set of controls and budgets to mitigate risk; ensure accuracy of reported financial results; and allow for effective strategic planning.

You will:

  1. Manage the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department;
  2. Monitor the Accounting systems for accuracy and integrity;
  3. Manage, review and approve payroll;
  4. Manage all payroll and government remittances;
  5. Oversee cash management: bank accounts, cash flows, credit policy, accounts payable;
  6. Monitor and support the A/P and A/R functions;
  7. Monitor inventory and costing system;
  8. Manage banking and insurance (including Group benefits);
  9. Monitor internal controls to ensure compliance and safeguarding of assets;
  10. Prepare year-end close supporting documentation and liaise with external accountants;
  11. Prepare annual budgets;
  12. Complete month-end;
  13. Prepare reports, projections, analysis and key performance indicators for Management review and to support strategic decision making;
  14. Supervise administrative and accounting staff.

You have:

  1. An accounting designation or equivalent experience as a senior financial manager, preferably in a manufacturing setting;
  2. Experience in commodity hedging strategies;
  3. Cost accounting skills and experience;
  4. Exceptional computer skills;
  5. Experience with manufacturing and accounting software systems.
