Your job:

We are looking for a dynamic individual to join the National Commercial Lines team. As a Team Lead, Commercial Lines, supporting our Lloyd’s Underwriting and Risk-Can departments, you will be responsible for motivating a high-performance team, leading by example, and enhancing and developing relationships. You will maintain a strong customer focused approach and commitment to the success of the team and our organization. You will work closely with our Risk-Can Underwriting Managers (MGA) team to build a successful book of business.

Who you are:

  • Proven track record: 2+ years of management experience leading high performing teams.

  • Commercial Insurance ability: 5+ years insurance industry experience, with extensive Commercial Insurance experience
  • A team player and natural leader: You thrive in a face-paced collaborative team environment and are passionate about developing and empowering your team to achieve their full potential and perform at a high level.
  • Comfortable with change: Building a leading MGA will require pivoting on strategies and initiatives. You are okay with priority shifts as we grow together.

What you will do:

  • Work with the Commercial Manager to ensure team goals and objectives are communicated and understood
  • Generate reports on team performance for management analysis; may include coordinating budgets; coordinate branch activities; schedule shifts and absences/holiday schedules; work as the IT contact
  • Provide direction and technical support to the team through coaching/guidance in order to ensure tools, workflows and processes are applied in order to meet company requirements
  • May participate in completing performance reviews and management; may deal with some personnel issues, and will escalate more complex issues to the manager
  • Act as senior level for dealing with customer service and sales concerns (client escalation); may escalate more complex issues to the manager
  • Manage some customer relationships and develop business, in addition to team lead accountabilities
  • Develop and nurture respectful and successful working relationships with our BrokerLink Brokers through strong communication, visibility and participation in achieving results.

Skills and Experience:

  • A university graduate or have the equivalent business experience
  • CIP, CRM or CAIB designation preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills and conflict resolution
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment, under pressure and deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills; capacity to coach
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Accounting experience an asset (accounts receivables and bank reconciliation)

  • Ability to travel
  • Located in Toronto (GTA) or Sudbury
  • RIBO license an asset or willingness to obtain
  • Alberta Level 2 General Insurance License an asset or willingness to obtain
