What you'll do

Reporting to the Manager, Business Accounting, the Senior Financial Analyst Accounting role supports an exciting emerging business for Canadian Tire called Triangle Retail Media (TRM). The successful incumbent will support the initial set-up of accounting processes and on-going reporting for this new area of the company, as well as provide support to the business, monthly reporting, ad hoc projects and collaborate with cross functional teams. This position will ensure accurate reporting and adherence to accounting standards and policies. Your technical expertise and analytical skills are critical for success, as is your ability to communicate, collaborate and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Provide technical accounting guidance around revenue recognition, cost of sales and accrual processes associated with the contractual agreements between TRM and its customers, as well as other specified transactions.

  • Responsible for the timely completion and accuracy of all monthly and quarterly deliverables.

  • Develop and implement processes for recording all relevant TRM financial activities such as margin, payroll, operating expense transactions and ensure appropriate allocation of performance across business units.

  • Conduct periodic reviews of the customer accounts receivable balances, communicate with sales teams, and estimate an allowance for doubtful accounts under IFRS.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including the TRM business, billing/accounts payable, tax, legal, Accounting and FP&A teams, to ensure proper execution of reporting.

  • Create and monitor accounting policy decisions, financial models, processes, and documentation.

  • Ensure effective monitoring and execution of controls.

  • Undertake ad hoc projects as required.

What you bring

  • CPA designation

  • University Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting

  • Minimum 4 years' experience in a medium/large company accounting department or accounting firm

  • IFRS expertise and experience with researching and developing accounting position documents.

  • Ability to work independently and create brand new reporting for this business unit.

  • Strong problem solving, analytical and strategic thinking skills; able to see the "big picture" in a complex business environment.

  • Natural curiosity to understand the reason behind transactions.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships.

  • Ability to thrive in an environment responsive to changing business requirements.

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Advanced PC skills including Microsoft suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Familiarity with internal and external audit processes

  • Experience using PeopleSoft accounting system and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) is an asset.

  • Broad knowledge of the chart of accounts and internal controls is an asset.

  • Experience in delivering timely and accurate financial reporting and analysis.
