Position Overview

We are looking for a candidate to fill the position of Intermediate Accountant. Reporting to the Assistant Controller in Toronto, the candidate will work closely with members of the accounting department and other departments. This position has a hybrid schedule and currently with a 1 day per week requirement at the office.

Main Responsibilities

  • Set up weekly payables and assist in Account Payables (AP) enquiries
  • Enter AP, payments, and bank transactions etc. in accounting system
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual production journals with proper backup proofs
  • Account reconciliations including intercompany loan reconciliations, AP, Account Receivables (AR), GST, bank reconciliations
  • Prepare intercompany AR invoices, and posting cash receipts and bank deposits
  • Prepare funding requests
  • Prepare analysis, update various tracking files, dashboards, and reports per requests
  • Assist with audits
  • Prepare HST filings and assist with HST audits
  • Assist in preparing complete production year-end files
  • Perform digital filings to save backups for internal control
  • Participate in the implementation of appropriate information and internal control systems

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience
  • Accounting certificate or degree / working towards degree/certificate
  • Strong work ethic, very organized, and resourceful
  • Positive, self-motivated and has a team attitude
  • Ability to quickly adapt to change in a dynamic and fast-growing environment
  • Ability to prioritize work and work under pressure
  • Strong analytical skills and detail oriented
  • Excellent knowledge of full accounting cycle
  • Proficient in PDF, MS office with intermediate excel skill
  • Knowledge of Microsoft GP (an asset)
  • Comfortable working in a paperless environment
