The Controller will oversee all sides of accounting operations including regular financial reporting including monthly internal reporting and annual year-end financial reporting. The position will include reporting the accuracy and completeness of the local financial records and will ensure all accounts are reconciled monthly. It will also include managing the details of any internal or external financial audits. This position will also manage a Revenue Accountant, Global Business Services (GBS) and lead the local Accounts Receivable (A/R) team of employees. This will include maximizing invoice collection efforts, application and resolution of customer deductions and day-to-day treasury activities. It will also include reporting to both local and regional finance on all aspects of cash, cash collection and cash management.
Month End / Year End and all Close Activities:
Coordinates and manages all month end close activities across all finance functions
Ensures reporting is timely and accurate
Ensures all reporting is aligned with both local, regional and corporate accounting policies
Develops and submits all month end reports required for International Markets or Corporate
Ensures timely and accurate reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts
Develops and submits all month end reports required for International Markets (IM) or Teva Corporate
Ensure all local SOX controls are in place and working effectively
Develops and/or works to improve efficient processes across all GL activities
Rolls out all accounting guidelines as directed by Teva Corporate to ensure Canadian financials are aligned with policy
Manages all financial audit activities including internal and external
Works collaboratively across the organization including ensuring all gross to net activities are recorded and cleared accurately and timely with all valid approvals
Ensure ERP system is functioning and reporting results accurately and continually work to deliver efficiencies, improved process and controls in support of cost effectiveness
Presentations to local and global Executive Management team as required
Self-motivated with high bias for action and urgency
High level of energy. Able to energize and influence a wide spectrum of people, including senior financial and operational professionals
Ability to meet strict, aggressive deadlines
A/R Leadership and Management
Leadership of a staff of approximately seven (7) employees on all aspects of accounts receivable including invoice recording, claims, deductions and cash application
Support the A/R team in the below activities:
Implementing efficient process to ensure timely processing of all invoices, deductions, and credits in support of accurate representation of financial results
Work collaboratively with the Trade and FP&A team to ensure all deductions are adequately covered with offsetting accruals at the end of the reporting periods
Review, manage and report of all aged items with recommendations to management on exposure and align with company guidelines for potential collection risk
Ensure customers are reviewed annually for appropriate credit limits to minimize financial risk
Effectively and collaboratively deal with customer issues on a timely manner
Provide all required reporting internally and externally as required
Ensure ERP system is functioning and reporting results accurately and continually work to deliver efficiencies, improved process and controls in support of cost effectiveness.
Revenue Accounting
Lead and manage one revenue accountant
Responsible for all aspects of revenue accounting including ensure adequate reserves related to revenue including but not limited to chargeback, returns and early payment terms accruals
Supports all aspects of revenue for internal and external audits
Ensures accuracy of all financial reporting related to revenue
Manage all GBS Activities
Integrate with all GBS Leaders to ensure the timely and accurate recording of all transactions led by the respective teams
India - Expense Reporting including policy alignment
Croatia
GL activities including intercompany and any balance sheet accounts
Cash application
Accounts payable
Other duties and ad hoc requests as assigned
Bachelor Degree completed in Finance or relevant field; Preferred:CPA. MBA is an asset
10+ years progressive experience; 5 years in management experience
Extensive Gross to Net Knowledge
SAP/ ERP, Vistex, Strong working knowledge of excel and capability to handle complex files
Thorough knowledge of technical accounting and US GAAP application
Thorough understanding of collections processing, deductions and claims validation and processing
Capability to handle a high volume of transactions
Advanced practical experience in financial planning and control, preferably in the commercial space
Good understanding of quality and manufacturing as it relates to products, processes and compliance
Strong appetite for continuous improvement and driving efficiency
Excellent, open, and proactive communication capabilities, identifying and addressing issues via an open, candid dialogue
Ability to relay financial information to non-financial managers.
