What is the opportunity?

As Risk Intern in the Counterparty Credit Risk Exposure Monitoring team, you will be involved in the daily management of the credit risk framework for derivatives. You will support daily monitoring of counterparty exposures against approved risk limits, provide oversight on the completeness and appropriateness of risk measurements, help streamline and automate improved risk monitoring practices and enhance the team's analytic capabilities to deep dive certain portfolios of interest. You will help run critical reports and support the development and coding efforts to enhance existing reporting/analytic frameworks.

What will you do?

  • Daily reporting of counterparty exposures and limit availability
  • Develop tools to pro-actively investigate and appropriately report and escalate material risk trends and concerns
  • Perform deep dive analysis into the risk profile of specific portfolios and counterparties of concern
  • Identify gaps in the risk capturing and reporting processes and ensure the accuracy of results
  • Develop/code tools to automate reports and processes and introduce new analytic capabilities
  • Support the migration/development of CCR's internal reporting/analytic framework

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Currently enrolled at a Canadian post-secondary institution with a focus on data science, computer science, mathematics, statistics, machine learning
  • Leadership acumen and a passion to apply it in a dynamic business environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Creative and analytical thinker who is self-driven and capable of working in a fast paced environment
  • Programming skills in one or more languages (ex. Python, R, SQL and/or VBA)
  • Ability to data extract, transform, and load processes with a variety of data types
  • Ability to perform complex data analysis on large volumes of data and present findings to stakeholders
  • Strong MS Office skills - Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint

Nice-to-have

  • Experience or understanding of open-source software frameworks (Hadoop), data visualization tools (Tableau and Splunk)
  • Proficient in building statistical and algorithmic models with complex and large datasets
  • Knowledge of design, development, and implementation utilizing current analytics technologies and architecture, as well as data warehouse concepts and methodologies
  • Relational database concepts and design experience
  • Ability to learn and absorb new concepts (in business and in systems) quickly and apply new knowledge

Please note: This posting is for a 4-months Fall Co-op 2024 Student placement with a start date of September 2024, and end date of December 2024. In order to be eligible for this 4-months Student position, you must either:

  • Be returning back to school after the work term end-date of December 2024 ; or
  • If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating in December 2024), you must require the full 4-months work term as a mandatory component to in order to graduate successfully.
