PAYROLL ANALYST – Corporate Office

Candidates are invited to apply for the position of Full-Time Payroll Analyst at Corporate Office located in Markham, Ontario.

  • The Payroll Analyst is responsible for analyzing and reporting on all data and providing in depth analysis to various stakeholders. The Payroll Analyst will also be responsible for new payroll implementations and ongoing support to the payroll team in the delivery of consistent payroll processes. These tasks will be completed while ensuring compliance with collective agreements, HR policies, internal audit procedures and legislative requirements while consistently maintaining the highest level of confidentiality. In addition, under the direction of the Payroll Manager’s the Payroll Analyst will liaises with finance and IT as required.
  • This role is ideal for someone with the proven ability to perform complex payroll functions, recognize efficiencies in processing and who demonstrates good judgement, decision-making and creative skills.


  • Payroll System Implementation (new employer)
  • Master File setup (conversion) implement payroll change as per the collective agreements and employer personnel policies
  • Setup new departments
  • New positions and other level controls
  • Set up income and deductions codes
  • Set up wage grid and OOS employee rate
  • Maintains and updates Infinium tables as per collective agreements
  • Retro calculations
  • Update all accumulators, such as sick, vacation and seniority
  • Responsible for maintaining the following tables in the Infinium payroll system:
  • which controls earning codes, province codes, T4 special codes
  • report control codes etc; which controls employee # ranges, cross references, union dues etc;
  • which controls general ledger accounts to interface with the general ledger; Account Master;
  • maintains all bank codes for direct deposit
  • Support all upcoming testing and validation phases of the projects, including but not limited to; master file validation, (new setup) functional testing (upgrades and enhancements) and perform parallel runs.
  • Responsible for production, balancing and distribution of year-end reports related to T4 and T4A records and reconciling any differences between Extendicare and Revenue Canada (i.e. PIERS, discrepancy letters.)
  • Assist payroll team and facilities to resolve payroll issues in a timely and professional manner
  • Develop and updating complex reports via Infinium Query for update and changes as per the collective agreement
  • Support special projects, as assigned and other duties, as appropriate and require


  • College degree or equivalent (preferred in Accounting)
  • Level II of CPM or in progress
  • Extensive payroll experience with solid systems and process knowledge and a good understanding of collective agreements
  • Advance skills in Excel and other windows applications
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Strong problem and analytical skills
  • Ability to multi task and meeting tight deadlines
