Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace, Kitchener has a great opportunity for a Senior Accountant. The successful incumbent will oversee & ensure proper internal controls of the finance administrative activities including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivables, and General Accounting. Support the Finance Manager with various reporting requirements & the administration of the fiscal period processes.

Essential Responsibilities

• Support the cash reporting: weekly function
• Supervise the month end close process in accordance with corporate timelines.
• Lead general accounting function, including reconciliations of general ledger accounts, A/R, A/P, recurring journal entries.
• Ensure the accuracy of all department processes to the various accounts.
• Perform daily review of all revenue streams, costing transactions for accuracy and investigation of discrepancies and unusual transactions.
• Manage & reconcile intercompany transactions.
• Identify, review and implement process improvement initiatives
• Assist with special projects and ad hoc reports
• Support the external audit process and corporate enquiries.
• Monthly HST and WSIB reporting
• Other duties as assigned by the Finance Manager.

Position Requirements

• University/college degree in business or related field.
• 5 to 10 years work experience in similar position, preferably in manufacturing
• Professional Accounting designation or pursuing.
• Proficient with Cincom, CODA or similar ERP systems
• Strong working knowledge of MS Office products
• Excellent knowledge of accounting principles, management regulations & compliance
• Training, inspecting work and coaching skills
• Knowledge of spreadsheet & accounting procedures
• Effective interpersonal skills
