What you will do

The Intermediate Accountant is responsible for processing financial transactions, preparing financials reports and administrating the computerized financial systems in order to ensure the partnership’s finances are maintained in an efficient, timely and accurate manner.

A day in the life

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, your job duties include, processing and administering Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and reporting responsibilities for Det’on Cho and its subsidiaries:

  • Completing monthly bookkeeping for assigned entities.
  • Assisting with accounts receivable and accounts payable
  • Preparing monthly GST/PST returns and researching appropriate GST/PST treatment as required.
  • Preparing reconciliations for assigned balance sheet accounts and monthly internal financial statements.
  • Assisting with inventory management and adjustments.
  • Assists with year-end financial statement preparation and external audits.
  • Preparing journal entries for transactions occurring
  • Vacation coverage in the accounting department and other duties as assigned

Who you are

  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree in commerce (accounting or finance major is preferred) with at least 2 years of work experience OR a combination of advanced accounting/finance diploma with at least four (4) years of relevant work experience.
  • Proven financial administration skills including the ability to process the accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Knowledge of the accounting cycle, accounts payable and receivable and payroll.
  • Familiarity with computerized accounting programs and office software.
  • Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Strong Excel with data analysis skills
  • Familiarity with Yellowknives Dene culture, language, and way of life are considered assets.

Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000 annually
