This Moment, This Position

Neptune Theatre is seeking an energetic Director of Finance with sound judgement, who exemplifies financial stewardship and leadership, and is eager to join an organization embarking on a period of transformational change.

The Director of Finance will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the organization, and supporting Senior Management and the Board of Directors in realizing the theatre's long-term vision by providing sound management of Neptune's finances and overall operations.

Position Responsibilities

  • Directs the administrative and financial management of a dynamic not-for-profit organization and develops financial and operational plans;
  • Conducts measurement and evaluation of related goals and objectives and the accurate and timely reporting of financial results;
  • Provides leadership and employee oversight, including supervisions of up to four (4) direct reports on the Finance and Operations team;
  • Develops and monitors control systems designed to preserve and leverage the organization's assets to achieve overall success and long-term sustainability;
  • Prepares month-end working papers in support of accurate reporting to Senior Management, Board of Directors and financial institutions;
  • Prepares annual working papers and draft financial statements for external audit to ensure efficient and effective audit process;
  • Communicates effectively with banks, auditors, and investment advisors;
  • Manages cash flow (on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis), reconciles bank accounts and maintains accurate records of all inter-fund transactions;
  • Provides oversight to the accounts receivable and payable processes, including review and approval of all payables, invoices, and deposits;
  • Plays a lead role in the development of annual budget and business plans;
  • Oversees the statutory filings and payments of the organization;
  • Manages capital assets, spending and life-cycle planning: operating and capital expenditures, general and cyber security; and insurance and risk mitigation;
  • Prepares statistical analysis and reports for funding partners ;
  • Provides monthly updates to the Senior Management Team on their budgets;
  • Manages and implements the organization's Security Policy;
  • Administers and negotiates agreements with unions operating in the organization, including provision of guidance and expertise during the bargaining process;
  • Oversees information technology, including analysis and implementation of new automated processes to streamline reporting and operations;
  • Supervises and coordinates procurement and
  • Directs monthly, quarterly and annual schedule of maintenance and Occupational Health and Safety reviews.

Education & Experience

  • Professional, designated accountant with a minimum of six (6) years post qualification experience in a senior financial role, including management and operational experience;
  • Proficiency in developing budgets, monitoring revenues and expenditures;
  • Experiencing adhering to procurement guidelines, acquiring goods and services in the most cost effective manner, and accurately forecasting budgets and cash flows;
  • Strong working knowledge of technical accounting requirements and reporting to stakeholders;
  • Well-developed negotiation skills, with the aptitude to influence others;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a vibrant artistic environment;
  • Ability to empower and lead a team toward operational excellence and
  • A background in stewardship and donor relations.

Compensation and Perks

$75,000 - $85,000 Salary

Neptune Theatre will also provide Health and Dental benefits through a third party provider. Annual Vacation 3 weeks (negotiable)
