We are seeking an Accounting Clerk to join our team based in our St. John's office for a full-time permanent position. As part of the Finance & Accounting team, you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day transaction processing for a variety of general accounting support tasks. You will be supported by your Finance & Accounting team in our other offices along with your St. John's team members.

As an Accounting Clerk, you will be responsible to maintain all daily processing and inquiries related to:

  • Accounts Payable: processing of firm member expense reports and vendor invoices;
  • Accounts Receivable: cash receipts, including incoming client calls, and preparation of third-party reports for remittances;
  • Trust: disbursements, deposits, investments, bank wires;
  • Trust: Monitoring of trust accounts, processing deposit requisitions, processing of investment and wiring requests for client trust funds and posting and reconciliation of client disbursements; and,
  • Billing: Execution of the billing process and review and follow up on past due accounts.

The successful candidate will possess the following skill set:

  • Bachelor's Degree and/or Diploma in Finance Accounting, or Business;
  • Minimum two years of related experience;
  • Proficient in data entry and Microsoft Suite, particularly Excel, with exceptional attention to detail;
  • A solid knowledge of basic accounting principles and strong math skills;
  • Adept in technology;
  • Experience with Elite 3E and/or Chrome River is an asset;
  • Knowledge of provincial law society trust account rules is an asset; and,
  • Experience working in a professional services environment.
