The Central Okanagan International Education department welcomes 400 students yearly from approximately 30 different countries and support these students in both schools and the district run Homestay Program. The International Student Program offers the opportunity for students to be academically successful, improve their English language skills, experience local and Canadian culture, and create positive lifelong memories of their study abroad experience.

Accounts Clerk

International Education Settlement Services

 

Perform bookkeeping/accounting duties including receiving and receipting money, maintaining records of the International Education Department's financial transactions, including petty cash, invoicing, assistance with bank reconciliation duties, District VISAs and other clerical duties as assigned.

 

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • completed Grade 12 (Senior Secondary School Graduation), including commercial courses applicable to the position (bookkeeping/accounting);
  • six (6) months' recent College Office Administration Program (or other related disciplines such as business administration, finance, accounting);
  • one (1) year recent and previous related accounting/bookkeeping experience;
  • knowledge and experience with accounting programs;
  • excellent knowledge and experience with all Microsoft modules including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams;
  • -a net typing speed of thirty-five (35) words per minute.

 

The successful applicant will be expected to:

  • complete MyEd BC-Level 1 and 2 training;
  • successfully pass the district's bookkeeping exam;
  • maintain a high quality of work including accuracy and dependability;
  • possess good organizational skills;
  • possess cultural sensitivity skills;
  • stay proficient in effectively utilizing a range of software and applications pertinent to International Education and the district (True North, Sparkrock 365, Flywire, iCent, etc.);
  • possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including conversing in-person and over e-mail, in a professional manner with international students, parents, and outside agencies;
  • complete the district's Health and Safety training.

 

This is a permanent full-time position starting as soon as possible working 35 hours per week at a wage rate of $28.81 per hour plus a comprehensive employee benefit package including extended health and dental coverage, short-term and long-term disability insurance and participation in a defined benefit pension plan.
