ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Methanex is currently seeking an Accounts Payable Administrator to join the team in Medicine Hat on a full-time basis. This is a temporary position with an anticipated term duration of May 1st 2020 to August 31st 2020. 

The Accounts Payable Administrator provides support to the Finance team and the site through management and processing of invoices and payments in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with company policies and procedures. 

More specifically your responsibilities will include:

  • Setting up and maintaining vendor information in Peoplesoft with proper documentation for approver and vendor files. 
  • Processing invoices in Maximo with match to purpose orders and receiving, as well as validating account codes. 
  • Following up and resolving discrepancies between invoices, purchase orders, and receiving with relevant parties while ensuring any action required is clear and resolution obtained in a timely fashion. 
  • Generating interfaces from Maximo to Peoplesoft. 
  • Generating payment runs in Peoplesoft. 
  • Preparing wire transfers and uploading electronic funds transfers (EFT) to the bank.  
  • Posting accounts payable to the general ledger. 
  • Processing Concur (electronic expense system) transactions as well as providing training to users as needed on the system's functionality. 
  • Responding in a timely manner to vendor issues and inquiries. 
  • Preparing month-end accrual for invoices that are not in the system. 
  • Working collaboratively with Finance, Purchasing, and Maximo users on process improvements and efficiencies. 
  • Working with internal & external auditors to provide information as requested. 
  • Reconciling bank accounts daily and preparing month-end reconciliation and reporting it to the Corporate Treasury. 
  • Depositing into the bank periodically as needed. 
  • Ensuring the month-end close procedures are performed including the recording of AP accruals, GRNIs, and the accurate recording of other journal entries in Peoplesoft financials. 
  • Completing monthly balance sheet account reconciliations in a timely fashion.  
  • Contributing to the organizational vision of Global Methanol Leadership and as a team member demonstrating the core values of integrity, trust, respect, and professionalism.
  • Undertaking all aspects of the role through living the Methanex values.  
  • Conducting all business in a manner which supports the Responsible Care® ethic. 

In order to qualify for this role, you will need demonstrated proficiency in the use of the MS Office suite of programs and accounting software as well as the strong ability to maintain accuracy and data integrity. An accounting certificate is an asset as is previous exposure to financial systems in an industrial environment.
