About this opportunity:

The Team Lead, Cash Receivables and Payments is responsible for leading the cash receipts and payments department including activities to ensure that they are completed accurately and on time and driving process improvements. This role is a key member of the AP/AR Accounting leadership team and requires an understanding of cash receipts and payments processes and systems, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to collaborate, influence and communicate effectively across business functions.

What you'll do:

  • Lead the Cash Receivable and Payables team through effective coaching, supervision, and mentoring.

  • Oversee the department activities to ensure they are completed accurately and on time, including:

  • Daily processing and allocation of cash receipts.

  • Scheduling, creation and support for payment runs.

  • Coordinate activities with Treasury.

  • Maintain and update the Delegation of Authority limits in SAP, Track and Maximo.

  • Manage workflows and adjust staffing appropriately to accommodate volumes.

  • Professional engagement with internal stakeholders.

  • Meeting monthly/quarterly/annual deadlines.

  • Develop, monitor and report process metrics.

  • Approve monthly account reconciliations.

  • Lead the global design and implementation of the cash receipt and payments processes.

  • Develop and maintain Cenovus policies for temporary delegations of authority.

  • Lead the identification and implementation of process improvements.

  • Be a strategic partner with multiple functions including Credit Department, Treasury and the Accounts Payable team.=

  • Influence beyond direct reporting lines to optimize processes through strong cross-functional relationships.

  • Design and manage compliance with Cenovus internal controls over financial reporting as it relates to the cash receivable and payments function.

  • Actively participant in/coordinate corporate initiatives that impact cash - receipts and payments (Bank initiatives, retail credit card process changes, Delegation of Authority updates).

  • Manage the team budget for headcount, training and development and team building.

Who you are:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

  • Accounting Designation or Business Degree in related field.

  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant work experience

  • SAP system experience required.

  • Previous leadership experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of the cash - receivables and payments processes.

  • Oil and Gas experience preferred.

  • SMS experience preferred.

  • Blackline experience preferred.
