The opportunity Bring Your Accounting Expertise to a Consulting Career This is a specialized role where you will serve as the financial backbone of our ERP implementations. Instead of running the books for a single organization, you will apply everything you know: Chart of Accounts design, reconciliation, period closes, financial reporting, and compliance; across a diverse portfolio of Canadian businesses. As a Senior Accounting Consultant, you will translate complex financial requirements into functional ERP configurations, safeguard data integrity, and provide the strategic insight that helps clients thrive. It is a unique blend of financial expertise, systems consulting, and client-facing strategy, with the breadth and growth that a single accounting department rarely offers. Is This You? Who We're Looking For You may be a controller, assistant controller, or senior accountant who has hit the ceiling at a company too small for a CFO, or a finance professional who wants to escape the up-or-out grind and do work with more variety and impact. You have owned full-cycle accounting, you understand how the numbers really flow through a business, and you have been through at least one ERP implementation or migration (even as the finance stakeholder rather than the person configuring it). You are ready to turn that hard-won operator's knowledge into a consulting practice and we will teach you Odoo along the way. Key Responsibilities What You'll Lead and Do Financial Discovery & Process Mapping Conduct deep-dive sessions with client finance teams to understand their current accounting workflows, reporting requirements, and pain points. Map manual accounting processes to automated ERP workflows, ensuring compliance with GAAP/IFRS standards. Perform detailed financial gap analysis and recommend Odoo-based solutions for complex fiscal requirements. ERP Accounting Implementation & Configuration Lead the configuration of the Odoo Accounting module, including Chart of Accounts, Taxes, Fiscal Positions, and Journal structures. Oversee the migration of financial data, including opening balances, accounts payable/receivable, and other transactions, ensuring 100% data accuracy. Set up automated bank feeds, reconciliation rules, and multi-currency reporting. Strategic Analysis & Reporting Design and implement customized financial reports, dashboards, and KPIs that provide clients with real-time visibility into their business health. Analyze client financial data post-implementation to ensure the system is delivering accurate insights and identifying further areas for optimization. Quality Assurance & Training Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) specifically for financial modules, ensuring all accounting entries trigger correctly across the system (Inventory, Sales, Purchase). Develop comprehensive financial user manuals and deliver expert-led training sessions for Controllers and CFOs. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Functional Consultants to ensure that operations (Manufacturing, POS, eCommerce) integrate seamlessly with the General Ledger. Act as the internal "Subject Matter Expert" for all accounting-related queries within the OERP team. Qualifications & Skills What You'll Bring Minimum Requirements Education Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation, or active pursuit of one, is strongly preferred. Experience Minimum of 5+ years in industry accounting, including time owning the full-cycle close as a controller, assistant controller, or senior accountant. Direct experience with at least one ERP implementation or migration as the implementer or as the finance-side stakeholder. Hands-on familiarity with a major ERP or accounting system (e.g., NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage, QuickBooks Enterprise, or Odoo). Proven experience in financial data migration and system reconciliations. Solid understanding of Canadian tax requirements (HST/GST/PST) and corporate reporting. Skills Financial Acumen Deep understanding of double-entry bookkeeping, financial statements, and cost accounting. Analytical Problem-Solving Ability to reconcile complex data discrepancies and translate business needs into technical configurations. Communication Superior ability to explain technical accounting concepts to non-financial stakeholders and technical developers alike. Attention to Detail An uncompromising commitment to data integrity and accuracy. Nice-to-Have Skills & Experience Hands-on experience with Odoo Accounting. Previous experience in an external consulting or client-facing role. Experience in manufacturing, distribution, wholesale, retail, or professional services. Proficiency in French.
