The Accounting Manager will oversee accounting operations across multiple business entities while supporting senior leadership, operational teams, and continued improvements to financial processes and controls. About the Role Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will provide financial leadership and accounting support across the organization. You will partner with senior management and operational teams to strengthen financial performance, improve processes, maintain effective controls, and support informed business decisions. Key Responsibilities: Accounting and Reporting Oversee accounting operations across five operating entities. Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close procedures. Ensure accurate recording of revenue, costs, payroll, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and intercompany accounts. Coordinate responsibilities across the accounting team to ensure deadlines are consistently met. Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes across multiple entities. Review payroll accounting and payroll-related reconciliations. Monitor cash requirements across operating entities and construction projects. Ensure timely processing and payment of subcontractors, suppliers, and other vendors. Monitor collections, aged receivables, and customer accounts. Coordinate annual budgeting across all five operating entities. Support the year-end audit, including preparation of working papers, financial analysis, and supporting documentation. Maintain effective accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Ensure compliance with applicable Canadian and British Columbia accounting, tax, and reporting requirements. Leadership Provide leadership and support to the finance and accounting team. Manage, coach, and motivate a team of approximately five staff members. Understand the needs of both finance and construction operations and help strengthen collaboration between the two groups. Support team development through coaching, direction, and hands-on assistance where required. Promote a collaborative, accountable, and continuous-improvement-focused working environment. Operational Support Act as a key accounting resource for operational management. Provide financial support and insight to business leaders across the organization. Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, reporting, and overall financial operations. Recommend and implement new accounting controls and procedures. Prepare and analyze financial and operational reports for key stakeholders as required. Qualifications and Experience CPA designation required. Minimum 3 years of experience supervising accounting staff. Experience working in the construction industry, including exposure to unionized environments. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, including pivot tables. Experience with Acumatica is considered an asset. Valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle. Compensation Salary: $95,000 - $120,000 per annum The final compensation offered will depend on job-related factors such as relevant experience, qualifications, level of responsibility, and internal compensation considerations. Work Arrangement: Hybrid Work Schedule: This role follows a hybrid schedule, with four days in the office each week, including at least one day in our Port Coquitlam office, and one day working from home.
