Job Description: Location: Toronto, ONCategory: Accounting/Auditing Postal Code: Anonymous Employment Type: Full Time Position OverviewThe Junior Accountant will support the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions while reporting to the Assistant Controller. This position is ideal for someone with a basic understanding of accounting principles who is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with invoices, spreadsheets, and accounting systems. Responsibilities Accounts Payable Review and approve trucking invoices related to customer orders. Receive, verify, and enter approved invoices from the logistics, customer service, and quality control teams. Prepare supporting document packages for cheque processing. Assist with preparing cheque payments. Respond to vendor inquiries regarding past-due invoices. Reconcile vendor statements and investigate outstanding balances. Accounts Receivable Obtain Bills of Lading from Customer Service Representatives. Compare Bills of Lading with sales orders to confirm that all information is accurate. Follow up with Customer Service Representatives or warehouse personnel regarding discrepancies. Update the invoice tracking spreadsheet once orders are ready to be invoiced. Assist with processing and distributing customer invoices. Enter completed customer invoices into EDI systems for select customers. Reporting Structure This position reports to the Assistant Controller. Qualifications: Job Requirements: Qualifications Basic understanding of accounting principles. Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Outlook. Knowledge of or exposure to accounting software. Strong organizational and multitasking skills. High level of attention to detail and the ability to work in a focused manner. Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
