Job summary
The Project Cost Accountant works in close collaboration with all members of the team to keep the budget information as accurate and updated as possible. The individual will closely work with the project control team to make sure forecast are followed properly and will treat costs as their own. Being accountable for adhering to budgeting process, analyzing and tracking variances, working with actuals, accruals and forecasting. Presentations will need to be prepared monthly to inform the upper management of the current cost situation. To prepare for these presentations, the Project Cost Accountant will meet with the responsible of every department to get their input and cues on any potential unbudgeted cost. The individual could be asked to visit the different work sites to get a better understanding of the project and its progress. The candidate shall be organized and proactive, attentive to details and be able to establish good communication with all the team members. Responsibilities: Update & analyze monthly Budget by extracting data from SAP / JDE Track actuals and accruals to forecasted budgets Analyze the variances of actuals to budget Work on forecasting costs per projects Organize work session to update Estimate to Complete (ETC) with the team members Analyze and correct financial estimates Prepare Powerpoint presentations for Management Understand & prepare documentation for Project overruns Track & prepare documentation regarding usage of Contingency Track and follow up on CGMs (Project scope changes) Codify change orders using the proper budgetary information Understand and analyze performance indicators to establish project’s financial health Compare monthly actuals with budget and explain variance Requirements: Administration, finance, or engineering degree CPA designation is an asset 1-3 years in a similar role Bilingual; English & French Highly skilled in Microsoft Excel – experience working with Pivot Tables, V-Look Ups, and other key functions Experience with SAP / JDE (Oracle program) Excellent communication, problem solving and attention to detail skills Demonstrated willingness to learn Ability to work both independently and in a team environment This role is a 12 month contract position, on site in Timmins, ON and the shift is Monday to Friday 7am-3:30pm The salary range is $50-$80/hour
