We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accounting Analyst to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, with experience in the retail industry. The senior accounting analyst will participate in the financial month-end close process, reconcile and analyze financial data, and prepare financial reports for various stakeholders as well as support the tax compliance. Key Responsibilities: * Support month‑end close, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and variance analysis. * Prepare accounting memos and provide guidance on transaction treatment under US GAAP. * Analyze financial results against budget and partner with teams to resolve discrepancies. * Assist with external financial reporting, consolidations, audit coordination, and supporting documentation. * Prepare financial analysis, reports, and presentations for senior leadership and the Board. * Support sales tax and income tax compliance, filings, audits, and liaise with external advisors. * Assist with budgeting and forecasting, providing analysis and insights. * Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements. * Support cross‑functional projects and ad‑hoc requests as needed. Knowledge & Skills Required: * CPA certification required, Bachelor’s degree in Accounting * Minimum 4–5 years of experience, including accounting firm experience; industry experience (2+ years) considered an asset. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. * Hands-on experience with sales tax filings, income tax compliance support, and tax audits is a strong asset. * Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel, advanced. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; team-player * Ability to adhere to tight deadlines and multi-task; highly organized; proactive * Ability to apply professional judgment * Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy. * Solid knowledge of US GAAP, preferred and/or IFRS. * Good knowledge of sales tax and income tax regulations * Bilingual (French and English); spoken and written · *Please note that due to the nature of the responsibilities of the position, a proficient level of English is required, in particular to communicate on a regular basis with employees outside of Quebec. * Benefits: Come join us at Birks, and let your true self, shine!
