About the job Job Title: Finance & Accounting Specialist Location: Burnaby, BC Type: Full-time Report to: Canada R&D Center Manager Overview We are a growing business in the battery management system (BMS) and energy storage sector, looking for a hands-on Finance & Accounting Specialist to build and manage our core financial and people operations. This is a high-impact role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys building systems from the ground up. Responsibilities Manage day-to-day accounting operations (AP/AR, payroll, general ledger) Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, and cash flow models Support fundraising activities, investor reporting, and financial analysis Compliance with Canadian tax regulations (GST, PST, corporate tax) Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors Support with SR&ED tax credits and other tax incentive programs Implement timesheet tracking for employees Coordinate with external service providers Assist with preparation of internal reports, presentations, and correspondence Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field CPA designation or in progress is an asset 3+ years of experience in finance and/or accounting roles Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards Experience with accounting software and payroll systems Ability to work independently and handle multiple functions in a lean team Familiarity with incentive programs for R&D companies is an asset Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills Ability to read/write Chinese is an asset

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting and at least 3 years of relevant experience. A CPA designation and familiarity with R&D incentive programs are considered assets.
