Senior Accountant / Comptable senior(e) – Montréal Gillespie-Munro Inc. (GMI) is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our growing Montréal team, reporting directly to the President. This is a hands-on senior accounting and leadership role with responsibility for full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, company analysis, forecasting, payroll, tax compliance, cash flow, internal controls, and process improvement. We offer a collaborative and supportive environment where employees are encouraged to take ownership, contribute ideas, and grow with the company. 📍 Montréal – In-office 🕗 Monday–Friday | 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Key Responsibilities Manage full-cycle accounting and day-to-day accounting activities. Manage the general ledger, AP/AR, reconciliations, and month-end close. Prepare financial statements and management reports. Conduct financial and company performance analysis and identify trends and variances. Prepare and maintain financial forecasts, budgets, and projections. Provide management with financial analysis and recommendations to support business decisions. Monitor cash flow and financial performance. Process and review payroll and government remittances. Maintain accurate accounting records and internal controls. Support year-end audits and external reviews. Review accounting work and provide guidance to junior staff. Identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies. Work closely with management and other departments. Take on increasing financial and leadership responsibilities as you progress toward a Controller role. Qualifications Strong full-cycle accounting experience. Solid knowledge of general ledger, AP/AR, reconciliations, payroll, and financial reporting. Experience with month-end and year-end processes. Experience with financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis. Knowledge of payroll, tax compliance, and government remittances. Strong understanding of accounting principles and ASPE. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills. Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities. Strong communication and leadership skills. Experience mentoring or reviewing junior accounting staff is an asset. Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills. QuickBooks and/or NetSuite experience is an asset. Experience in transportation, logistics, freight forwarding, or a related industry is an asset.
