Our client, a growing real estate and property management organization, is seeking an experienced Property Accounting Manager to take ownership of its accounting function and play a key role in bringing the accounting operations in house. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands on accounting leader who enjoys building processes, improving systems and controls, and working closely with senior leadership. As the organization continues to grow, this position offers the opportunity to build and lead an accounting team and potentially progress into a CFO level role over time. Key Responsibilities Manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, AP, AR, reconciliations and month-end/year-end close Prepare and review financial statements, management reports and financial analysis Lead budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management Manage property accounting, including tenant and property-related reconciliations and reporting Manage tax compliance, audits and external reporting requirements Oversee treasury, banking and cash management activities Establish and strengthen accounting policies, procedures and internal controls Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, efficiency and accuracy Support the transition of accounting functions currently managed by a third-party provider to an internal accounting team Evaluate and implement accounting systems, technology and automation initiatives Work closely with Property Management, Asset Management and senior leadership Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business decisions Initially work closely with a small accounting team, with the opportunity to build and expand the department as the business grows Qualifications CPA designation 8+ years of property accounting experience Experience within real estate, property management or a related industry Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting and financial reporting Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and internal controls Proven ability to improve processes and implement accounting systems Strong leadership and communication skills Comfortable working in a hands on environment and willing to remain involved in day-to-day accounting activities Strong analytical, organizational and problem solving abilities Experience managing or mentoring accounting staff is an asset

Requirements
