Payroll Administrator Location: Remote- Calgary, AB Type: Contract Duration: One year with potential of extension Rate of Pay: $45-60/hr Introduction: Brunel is currently seeking a Payroll Administrator who will be responsible for supporting the accurate and timely administration of the full payroll cycle for employees across the organization. This role works closely with Payroll, Human Resources, Benefits, and operational teams to ensure payroll transactions are processed in accordance with company policies, collective agreements, and applicable federal and provincial legislation. The Payroll Administrator will leverage Workday Payroll and Workday Time Tracking to maintain payroll data integrity, resolve discrepancies, and deliver exceptional customer service to employees and stakeholders. Responsibilities: Assist in the administration of the full payroll cycle, including gross-to-net calculations, payroll processing, employee payments, payroll balancing, and journal preparation. Calculate and prepare payroll worksheets for new hires, terminations, leaves of absence, returns from leave, payroll adjustments, retroactive payments, and other employee-related transactions. Review, investigate, and resolve payroll and timesheet discrepancies to ensure accurate employee compensation. Perform timecard entry, validation, review, and labour charge allocation activities. Utilize and support Employee Self-Service (ESS) and Manager Self-Service (MSS) functionality within Workday. Monitor HR Audit Reports and administer employee changes, timecard corrections, schedule updates, and payroll-related transactions. Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation to support compliance, audits, and reporting requirements. Collaborate closely with Human Resources and Benefits teams on employee pay and benefits-related matters. Respond to payroll inquiries while ensuring compliance with privacy legislation, payroll standards, and company policies. Manage and respond to payroll inbox requests in a timely, professional, and customer-focused manner. Build and maintain positive working relationships across departments while representing the Payroll function professionally. Stay informed of applicable payroll legislation, regulatory requirements, and collective bargaining agreement provisions impacting payroll operations. Assist with system testing, process improvements, and payroll-related projects as required. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Required Education/Experience: Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation through the National Payroll Institute (formerly Canadian Payroll Association) or equivalent certification. Minimum 3 to 5 years of payroll experience, including administration of the full payroll cycle. Minimum 6 months of hands-on experience using both Workday Payroll and Workday Time Tracking modules. Experience processing payroll transactions in a complex organizational environment. Demonstrated understanding of payroll system functionality, design, and capabilities. Experience working with payroll legislation, regulatory compliance requirements, and employee records management. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Strong interest and aptitude for utilizing digital tools and technology to support payroll operations. Working knowledge of payroll accounting principles and payroll reconciliations. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies. What We Offer Why work with Brunel?
