Job Summary Reporting to the CEO, this position will support the day-to-day accounting, reporting, and financial operations that underpin the company’s growth. This role owns and leads a broad range of finance and accounting activities, from bookkeeping and accounts payable/receivable to managerial accounting, government funding claims, and year-end support with our external accountants. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role suited for someone who is energized by variety, comfortable in a fast-moving environment, and excited to help build financial processes from the ground up as the company scales. Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree or diploma in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce, or a related field required. 4-6 years of progressive accounting and finance experience. CPA designation or active pursuit of a CPA designation is an asset, but equivalent hands-on experience in financial management is equally valued. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online) and advanced Excel modeling, reporting and analysis skills Experience running full-cycle payroll Strong understanding of core accounting principles (GAAP/ASPE), financial statements, general ledger management, and inventory accounting. Hands-on experience managing SR&ED, government grants, and non-dilutive funding claims preferred. Background in medical devices, healthcare, or other regulated industry is a strong asset. Exceptional cross-functional communication and stakeholder presentation skills. Experience reviewing and supporting commercial contracts. Legally authorized to work in Canada. Responsibilities 1. FP&A & Strategic Support Own and update the company’s financial model, rolling forecasts, cash runway, projections, and annual budgets. Build and maintain executive KPI dashboards (commercial, operational, spend by department) to drive actionable insights. Support the CEO in commercial decision-making, contract reviews (hospital, ASC, distribution), and strategic pricing analysis. Assist legal counsel in managing corporate contracts, NDAs, and supply agreements. 2. Financial Operations & Revenue Cycle Management Own and determine the company's revenue recognition policy and application, ensuring treatment is audit- and investor-diligence ready. Own end-to-end revenue operations including invoicing, collections, commission calculations, and sales reconciliations. Manage procure-to-pay workflows, including purchase order (PO) generation, 3-way matching, vendor payments, and AP reviews. Streamline logistics-related processes (shipping, customs, documentation) to optimize operational workflow. 3. Accounting, Payroll & Compliance Lead month-end/year-end close process and deliver monthly/quarterly financial statements for leadership and the Board. Manage full-cycle payroll, employee expense reimbursements, commissions, and bonus calculations. Remit all required government taxes (source deductions, HST/GST filings) accurately and on time. Manage asset registers, inventory accounting (raw materials, WIP, finished goods), and external audit preparation. Prepare, track, and submit non-dilutive funding proposals, SR&ED claims, and grant reports. Support external audits, preparing documentation and responding to inquiries in a timely manner. Travel Requirement Occasionally, as required.
