<p>POSITION: Project Accountant</p> <p>JOB TYPE: Full Time</p> <p> LOCATION: Grande Prairie, Alberta</p> <p>SALARY/WAGE: Starting at $85,000 annually (commensurate with experience)<br> </p> <p>CLOSING DATE: Open until suitable candidate if found</p> <p> JOB SUMMARY:<br> The Agency is excited to assist Volker Stevin in the recruitment of a Project Accountant to join their team in Grande Prairie, Alberta. Reporting to the Regional Controller, the Project Accountant will support local project teams by overseeing project financials, monitoring costs, preparing forecasts, and ensuring projects remain on budget and financially successful.<br> </p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Set up new projects within the accounting system, including cost codes, job structures, and contract details</li> <li>Monitor project costs including labour, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and overhead</li> <li>Work closely with Project Managers and Estimators to support budgeting and cost controls</li> <li>Process invoices, purchase orders, subcontractor payments, and financial documentation accurately</li> <li>Assist with billing processes, revenue tracking, change orders, and contract compliance</li> <li>Prepare financial forecasts, cash flow projections, variance reports, and profitability analysis</li> <li>Support month-end and year-end close activities, audits, and job close-out reporting</li> <li>Maintain communication with project teams, vendors, subcontractors, and internal departments</li> <li>Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes and project accounting efficiencies</li> <li>Provide ad hoc financial reporting and operational analysis as required<br> </li> </ul> <p>REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>CPA designation (or equivalent recognized accounting designation) required</li> <li>Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related business discipline</li> <li>Minimum 2 years of post-designation accounting experience</li> <li>Prior experience within construction, infrastructure, or operations-based industries required</li> <li>Strong understanding of job costing, project financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting</li> <li>Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, Lookups, financial analysis)</li> <li>Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite</li> <li>Experience with D365 considered an asset</li> <li>Excellent communication and collaboration skills</li> <li>Ability to work independently while supporting multiple project teams</li> <li>Strong attention to detail with proven analytical and problem-solving abilities<br> </li> </ul> <p>BENEFITS:</p> <ul> <li>Work for a company with a strong reputation and over 45 years of industry leadership</li> <li>100% employer-paid comprehensive health and wellness benefits</li> <li>RRSP matching program for eligible employees</li> <li>Access to extensive professional development and training programs</li> <li>Opportunities for growth within a diverse family of companies</li> <li>Team-focused culture built on safety, integrity, and collaboration</li> </ul> <p>JOB POSTING INFORMATION:</p> <p>Submit your resume and cover letter to The Agency at recruiter@theagency212.com.
