The Opportunity We are looking for an experienced Senior Corporate Accountant to support the Vice-President, Corporate Accounting & Compliance with financial and tax compliance, reporting, review, and analysis activities for the Canadian and U.S. companies. Responsibilities Ensure accuracy of financial statements. Perform review of month end reporting. Complete the Monthly Reporting Pack sent to Head Office. Approve account reconciliations. Ensure reporting is in compliance with the appropriate GAAP (IFRS/ASPE) and with corporate accounting policies and standards. Assist in the analysis of results and explain variances. Coordinate year–end audit file preparation for each audited entity and ensure that an appropriate audit file is prepared. Liaise with the internal and external auditors on audit issues. Assist the finance team with external audits (any government audits – income tax and commodity taxes, CSST, etc…). Assist in tax compliance matters Canadian and US entities. Review month end intercompany balances and reconcile variances. Participate in special projects. Address punctual requests from the management team. Approve of all journal entries. Bookkeeping of various holding companies. Qualifications The preferred candidate should have: Audit experience, preferably achieved through internship at a recognized accounting firm Knowledge of accounting principles, including both IFRS and ASPE 5 to 7 seven years of similar experience, either in an external CA firm or in industry A good understanding of income tax (Canadian and US) and sales tax principles Experience with JD Edwards accounting software systems.
