Established in 1953, Jack Cewe Construction Ltd. (CEWE) provides all aspects of road construction including excavation, placing gravel, base and sub-base, underground utility installation, concrete slabs, sidewalks and curbs, and of course asphalt paving and milling. Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Construction Accountant to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone looking to build a career in construction accounting while gaining hands-on experience in project costing, accounts payable, billing, and financial reporting. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, vendors, and the accounting team to ensure accurate and timely financial processing. Key Responsibilities Process accounts payable invoices and ensure accurate coding to jobs and cost codes. Assist with accounts receivable, including preparing progress billings and following up on outstanding payments. Maintain job cost records and support project cost tracking. Reconcile vendor statements and resolve invoice discrepancies. Assist with monthly bank and credit card reconciliations. Prepare journal entries and support month-end and year-end closing activities. Support the preparation of financial reports and project cost summaries. Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation. Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate project financial information. Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned Qualifications Diploma or bachelor’s degree in accounting. 1–3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience; experience in construction is an asset but not required. Working knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office. Experience with accounting software. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Positive attitude and willingness to learn. Preferred Qualifications Enrollment in or interest in pursuing a CPA designation is an asset. Experience with job costing, accounts payable, or project accounting is preferred.
