Contract Job title: Senior Financial Accountant Duration: 12 months Role status: Current opening Reporting to the Senior Director, Accounting & Controls, the Senior Associate will support legal entity accounting, reporting and financial controls, including monthly and quarterly close activities. This opportunity offers exposure to accounting, reporting and analytics, alongside cross-functional finance projects and process improvement initiatives. Principal tasks and responsibilities include: Coordinate monthly and quarterly finance activities, including accounting close, reconciliations, reporting and analysis. Prepare and post journal entries in SAP, ensuring balances are accurate and aligned with accounting and reporting requirements. Assist in preparing legal entity financial statements, conducting detailed analytical reviews and investigating variances. Support accounting data inputs for equity-based compensation arrangements. Support regulatory and compliance reporting, including excess minimum capital calculations and participation fees. Coordinate audit deliverables, prepare audit samples and collaborate with internal stakeholders to address auditor requests. Work with cross-functional teams to implement and document new processes. Identify and implement process efficiencies, including opportunities for automation. Establish and maintain strong governance practices and financial controls Our client: An established financial services organization within the asset management sector. Qualifications and pre-requisites: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field, with 5-7 years of relevant finance or reporting experience. Professional accounting designation such as CPA, CA, CMA or CGA strongly preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to summarize detailed information for stakeholders. A proactive, independent approach with the ability to take ownership of deliverables and drive progress. Strong problem-solving, organizational and time management skills. Excellent attention to detail and an inquisitive approach to process improvement. Ability to build and maintain effective relationships across all levels of an organization. Strong experience with financial reporting systems and tools; SAP experience preferred. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and meet demanding deadlines while maintaining accuracy. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word; Power BI and/or Tableau experience is an asset. Experience within a financial institution, particularly in asset management, is an asset. Additional information or perks: Based in Toronto or Waterloo, with a hybrid arrangement requiring three days on-site per week and flexibility to select days based on Exposure to finance initiatives, automation and process improvement opportunities. isgSearch does not use artificial intelligence throughout the hiring process.
