Logistics: Role Type: Full-Time, Permanent Role Environment: On-site 3x/week Salary: $110,000 - $130,000/yr Day-to-Day Insight Global is looking for an Accounting and Payroll Manager to join one of Canada’s leading diagnostic imaging organizations. This individual will report directly to the Controller and will be responsible for overseeing the accounting and payroll functions across the organization, with a strong focus on month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, contractor payments, payroll review, and team leadership. This role will manage a team across accounting and payroll, review journal entries, account reconciliations, AP payments, payroll GL uploads, EFTs, wires, cheques, and other financial transactions to ensure accuracy, compliance, and strong internal controls. A major focus for this hire will be tightening and improving the month-end close process, balancing workload across the team, and ensuring all downstream impacts are understood before process changes are made. The successful candidate will be a strong people leader who can coach, train, and develop team members while adapting their leadership style to different personalities and working styles. They will need to be highly collaborative, practical, organized, and communicative, with the ability to work cross-functionally while maintaining alignment with the Controller, Director of Finance, and other key stakeholders. This person must be comfortable handling highly confidential financial and payroll information and will be expected to demonstrate sound judgement, professionalism, and discretion at all times. The ideal candidate will bring a strong accounting background, payroll exposure, advanced Excel skills, ERP experience, and the emotional intelligence required to lead a team through change, process improvement, and ongoing development. Must Haves CPA designation 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including full-cycle accounting 3+ years of people management experience within an accounting, finance, or payroll environment Strong experience with month-end close, journal entry review, account reconciliations, and financial reporting Experience reviewing AP payments, EFTs, wires, cheques, payroll uploads, accruals, and related financial transactions Payroll exposure, ideally within a larger employee population or complex payroll environment Proven ability to train, coach, mentor, and develop accounting or payroll staff Strong emotional intelligence and the ability to adapt coaching and communication styles based on the individual Experience driving process improvements while understanding downstream impacts before implementation Strong understanding of confidentiality requirements related to financial, payroll, and employee information Advanced Excel skills ERP experience Strong organizational, time management, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to communicate effectively upward to senior finance leadership and cross-functionally with other departments Plusses Experience with Sage Intacct Experience with Ceridian Dayforce Experience processing or overseeing payroll for 500+ employees Experience in healthcare, diagnostics, medical services, or a multi-location organization Experience supporting contractor payments, physician payments, partner payments, or complex payout structures Experience with budgeting, forecasting, audit support, and financial analysis Experience supporting system implementations, process changes, or workflow improvements Experience managing both accounting and payroll team members
