We are seeking a detail-oriented General Accountant to join our Finance team. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career to gain exposure to a fast-growing public company, multi-entity accounting, and the unique dynamics of a franchisor/franchisee business model. Key Responsibilities Day-to-Day Accounting Record and reconcile transactions across multiple brands and entities. Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring invoices and receipts are coded correctly. Prepare bank and credit card reconciliations. Support expense claim processing. Set up new vendors; ensure proper documentation and approvals are in place Month-End Close & Reporting Assist with journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations (cash, intercompany, accruals, prepaid expenses). Maintain organized working papers to support internal and external reporting. Provide schedules and documentation to support quarterly and annual financial statements. Public Company & Franchisor Support Maintain compliance with federal, provincial, and municipal tax and employment laws. Help prepare supporting schedules for public filings and MD&A commentary. Maintain strong documentation to support audit requirements and internal controls. Collaboration & Growth Work closely with operations teams and brand leaders to support accurate and timely financial reporting. Contribute to system upgrades and process improvements as Happy Belly grows and scales. Assist with ad hoc projects and initiatives assigned by the VP Finance. Skills & Qualifications 3–5 years of accounting experience (internship/co-op experience considered). Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Pursuing CPA Designation Solid working knowledge of Excel (pivot tables, lookups, and related functions) Experience with QuickBooks Online (multi-entity / class tracking) or similar accounting software an asset. Exposure to franchising or QSR/restaurant accounting is an asset. Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work in a fast-paced, multi-brand environment. Strong communication and collaboration skills.
