Greenfield is looking for a Plant Accountant to join our growing team. The Plant Accountant is responsible for supporting the financial, inventory, and operational accounting functions of the Brampton Packaging Facility. This role plays a critical part in maintaining inventory accuracy, managing cost accounting activities, supporting accounts payable processes, and ensuring timely completion of month-end close activities. The Plant Accountant works closely with Operations, Production, Maintenance, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain teams to ensure accurate inventory records, product costing, and regulatory compliance while supporting continuous improvement initiatives and ERP system enhancements. Hybrid work arrangement: 4 days in office and 1 day working from home per week. Your Experience Should Include: Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline. CPA designation or progress toward CPA certification is considered an asset. Minimum 2–5 years of experience in inventory accounting, cost accounting, manufacturing accounting, or a related finance role. Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred. Knowledge of inventory management, standard costing, variance analysis, and financial reporting principles. Experience with ERP systems; Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience is an asset. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools. Job Responsibilities: Inventory Management & Reconciliation Perform monthly reconciliation and balancing of finished goods inventories for the Brampton and Boucherville facilities. Reconcile raw material inventories and support cycle count activities throughout the year. Record bulk material receipts and reconcile tank inventories to physical counts on a monthly basis. Support and coordinate periodic physical inventory counts, investigate variances, and implement corrective actions as required. Track, reconcile, and report inventory adjustments, returns, and inventory-related transactions. Maintain accurate inventory records and production reporting data within company systems. Cost Accounting Apply fundamental accounting principles and cost accounting concepts to support manufacturing operations. Analyze inventory absorption rates, production variances, and manufacturing cost variances to ensure costing accuracy. Review and monitor the integrity and reasonableness of cost accounting systems and processes. Maintain and update raw material pricing information to support accurate inventory valuation and product costing. Financial Reporting & Month-End Close Support month-end close activities related to inventory and manufacturing operations. Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules for inventory Investigate and resolve discrepancies impacting financial results. Provide analysis and reporting of inventory balances, variances, and operational performance metrics as required. Assist with internal and external audit requests related to inventory, costing, and operational accounting processes. Procurement & Accounts Payable Support Create and process purchase orders for the Quality Assurance/Quality Control, Production, Maintenance, and Environment, Health & Safety departments. Support accounts payable processes by ensuring purchase transactions are accurately recorded and properly supported. Assist with vendor pricing maintenance and procurement-related data updates within company systems. Master Data Management Create and maintain inventory master data, including new item setup and Bills of Material (BOM). Update and maintain Bills of Material, production standards, and inventory-related system records. Ensure data integrity within ERP and inventory management systems. Regulatory Compliance Prepare and maintain monthly Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) excise tax reports and supporting documentation for the Brampton Packaging Facility. Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, internal controls, and regulatory requirements. Support documentation and reporting requirements associated with government agencies and audits. Continuous Improvement & Systems Support Participate in ERP implementation projects, including future Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) enhancements and upgrades. Support ad hoc projects aimed at improving operational efficiency, inventory accuracy, costing processes, and financial reporting. Health, Safety, Environment & Quality Fulfill responsibilities associated with the Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) Management System within the scope of the role. Ensure compliance with the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and Workplace Safety and Insurance Act.
