This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely processing of invoices and payments while maintaining compliance with internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the financial integrity of the organization and contributing to a collaborative and efficient work environment. Key Responsibilities • Oversee the full-cycle accounts payable process, including invoice intake, coding, approvals, and payment processing • Ensure accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices and employee expense claims • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner • Maintain strong working relationships with vendors and internal departments • Prepare and process electronic funds transfers (EFTs), cheques, and other payment methods • Support month-end and year-end close activities, including accruals and reporting • Complete monthly credit card reconciliations and ensure all transactions are properly recorded and supported • Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and applicable regulations • Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold the integrity of all financial records and sensitive information • Support internal and external audit processes by preparing required documentation and reports • Provide guidance and support to junior accounts payable staff, as required • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and workflow • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the Finance department and organizational needs Qualifications & Experience • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounts payable experience, including senior or lead responsibilities • Strong understanding of accounting principles and accounts payable best practices • Experience with Xyntax or similar accounting/ERP systems • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills • Effective communication and problem-solving abilities • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Preferred Assets • Experience working with First Nations organizations or within the public sector • Knowledge of Indigenous governance and financial practices Working Conditions • This is a 100% on-site position based at the Goodstoney First Nation office. • Standard office working hours. • Candidates must be willing and able to commute to the work location daily.
