Senior Tax & Technical Accounting Specialist Hybrid (2 days/week in Squamish office) | Full-Time Contract, 20 Months Help us pull carbon out of the sky - and make sure the tax strategy behind it is bulletproof. Our leading industry client is scaling direct air capture technology to fight climate change at a global level. Their work sits at the intersection of engineering breakthroughs, government incentive programs, and a fast-growing multinational structure - which means their tax and technical accounting function is anything but routine. We're looking for a seasoned CPA with deep tax expertise to step into a critical advisory role for 20 months, covering a maternity leave. This isn't a back-office compliance seat — you'll be the organization's go-to expert on corporate tax, SR&ED, and complex technical accounting, working directly with their U.S.-based parent company, external advisors (PwC, KPMG), and the engineers building the technology itself. Why this role is different You'll own the big calls. From SR&ED strategy to cross-border tax positions to IFRS/US GAAP judgment calls on complex transactions - your expertise drives the decisions. You'll work at the center of the action. Direct exposure to engineering teams, government funding programs, transfer pricing, and a U.S. parent company relationship - real variety, not repetitive compliance work. You'll be trusted, not micromanaged. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you'll operate independently, backed by top-tier external advisors when you need them. What you'll focus on Lead Canadian corporate tax compliance and advisory (T2s, 1120-F, provisions) and manage our relationship with PwC Own our SR&ED program end-to-end - from technical eligibility assessments with engineering teams to CRA audit support Serve as the primary finance contact for KPMG's annual audit Weigh in on technical accounting treatment under IFRS and US GAAP for complex transactions Support transfer pricing governance and intercompany reporting alongside our U.S. parent's tax department What you bring CPA designation, with 10+ years of progressive experience across public practice, industry tax, technical accounting, and/or audit Hands-on SR&ED experience - you've led, reviewed, or audited claims and know how to work with technical teams US tax exposure and comfort working alongside a U.S.-based parent organization Solid grounding in Canadian corporate tax, with strong IFRS/US GAAP knowledge A track record of exercising independent judgment on complex, ambiguous issues - and communicating your reasoning clearly to stakeholders across disciplines Bonus points for CRA audit experience, multinational structure exposure, or transfer pricing familiarity The details Term: Full-time contract, 20 months (maternity leave coverage) Location: Hybrid - 2 days per week in office Reports to: Director of Finance If you're a tax specialist who wants meaningful, high-autonomy work on a mission that actually matters - we'd love to hear from you.
