Job summary

Position Summary Dye & Durham is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our Payroll team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll across Canada and support payroll operations in a fast-paced, growing organization. This role requires extensive payroll administration experience, in-depth knowledge of Dayforce, working knowledge of ADP, and a strong understanding of payroll legislation, compliance, and best practices. The Payroll Specialist will collaborate closely with Human Resources, Finance, and business leaders to ensure payroll accuracy, compliance, and exceptional employee service. Key Responsibilities Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time for salaried, hourly, commission, and bonus-eligible employees. Manage payroll transactions including new hires, terminations, promotions, salary adjustments, leaves of absence, and benefits deductions. Serve as the subject matter expert for Dayforce payroll administration, configuration, troubleshooting, and reporting. Utilize ADP platforms to support payroll processing, reconciliation, and reporting activities as required. Review payroll data for accuracy and perform audits to identify and resolve discrepancies. Administer statutory deductions, garnishments, taxable benefits, pension contributions, and voluntary deductions. Ensure compliance with federal and provincial payroll legislation, employment standards, and tax regulations. Prepare and reconcile payroll reports, general ledger entries, and payroll-related account balances. Support year-end payroll activities, including T4, RL-1 (where applicable), and other statutory reporting requirements. Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a professional and timely manner. Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to maintain accurate employee records and payroll data integrity. Assist with payroll audits and provide documentation for internal and external audit requirements. Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to payroll system enhancements and automation initiatives. Qualifications Required Minimum 6-7 years of progressive payroll administration experience in a medium to large, multi-provincial organization. Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience with Dayforce Payroll. Experience working with ADP Workforce Now or other ADP payroll platforms. Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, taxation, employment standards, and statutory compliance requirements. PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) designation through the National Payroll Institute, or actively pursuing certification. High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data reconciliation. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines. Preferred Experience supporting payroll for a publicly traded or high-growth organization. Exposure to US payroll processes and regulations. Experience with HRIS integrations and payroll system implementations. CPP (Certified Payroll Manager) designation is considered an asset.
