Job details
Custom Accounting & CFO Advisory is a Regina-based firm providing accounting, tax and fractional CFO services to corporate clients and owner-managed businesses. We’re looking for a senior accountant to lead new client transitions. You’ll be the client’s main contact while you set up or take over their books, lead their first two month-end closes, and hand the file to the team member who will look after them each month. What you’ll do Lead the onboarding meeting. Agree with the client on what records you need, who will provide them, and which deadlines need attention. With the client’s authorization, coordinate the transfer from their previous accountant or bookkeeper. Set up the accounting file or clean up the existing one. Review the chart of accounts, verify opening balances against prior year-end records, and investigate differences. Complete the first month-end yourself. Reconcile bank, credit card, payroll and sales tax accounts, review receivables and payables, and prepare a balance sheet and income statement. Walk the owner through the results and any outstanding questions. Guide the ongoing team member through the second close and review their work. Hand over the reconciliations, monthly checklist, filing deadlines and open items once they can run the next close independently. Prepare year-end working papers and Canadian T2 corporate income tax returns for review. Carry forward relevant tax balances and flag items that need the tax team’s attention. What you’ll bring At least 10 years of relevant experience spanning full-cycle bookkeeping, accounting services and corporate tax, including recent hands-on preparation of Canadian T2 returns. Experience leading client transitions and personally resolving incomplete records, unreconciled accounts or opening balance differences. The ability to explain accounting issues to business owners and teach a colleague how to maintain a file. Experience with QuickBooks Online and Excel would be an asset. A CPA designation is preferred. We welcome experienced senior accounting technicians and client accounting leads who meet the requirements above. How to apply Apply through this posting with your résumé. Please include a brief example of a client file you took over, what you personally did during the transition, and how you knew it was ready to hand over. Please leave out client names and identifying details.
